MEANING
देखत दरपन कहत गोपाल ।अरी मैया यह कौन दूसरौ मोहीसौ तेरौ लाल ॥१॥Looking into the mirror, Gopal says, “O Maiya, who is this other Lala of yours who looks just like me?” ॥१॥याहि गोद लै बैठि जिमावै हों न जेंऊंगो आज ।हों बाबाकी गोद बैठिहों लै अपनों सब साज ॥२॥“You take him in your lap, sit him down, and feed him; I will not eat today. I will go and sit in Baba’s lap, taking all my things with me.” ॥२॥जाय बसूंगो गोपिनके घर खेलूंगो ब्रज माँही ।चोखूंगो गैया अपनीकों छूवों न तेरी छाँही ॥३॥“I will go and live in the Gopis’ homes and play throughout Vraj. I will tend my own cows and will not even touch your shadow.” ॥३॥जो तू मेरी कही न मानें दरपन ह्वदें लगाय ।मेरें ओर कौन दूसरौ तूही पुत हों माय ॥४॥When He does not heed her words, she holds the mirror to her heart and says, “Who else is there besides You? You alone are my son, O my child.” ॥४॥बालचरित्र रस महामुग्ध सो बरनन करि मन मूढ़ ।रसिक प्रीतम सुमिरत निशिवासर अंतर भावनिगूढ़ ॥५॥Deeply enchanted by the rasa of His childhood pastimes, my simple heart tries to describe them. Rasik Pritam remembers Him day and night, with the deepest bhava treasured within his heart. ॥५॥
