MEANING
खेलत मदन सुंदर अंग ।युवती जन मन निरखि उपजत विविध भाँति अनंग ॥१॥He plays, His beautiful form charming as Madan. Beholding Him, many kinds of loving feelings arise in the hearts of the young women. ॥१॥पकरि बछरा पूँछ ऐंचत अपनी दिश कर जोर ।कबहुँ बच्छ लै भजत हरि कों युवती जनकी ओर ॥२॥Grasping a calf’s tail, Hari pulls it forcefully toward Himself; at times the calf runs off, carrying Hari toward the young women. ॥२॥देखि परबस भये प्रीतम भयौ मन आनंद ।मनही आकुल भई व्याकुल गई लाज अमंद ॥३॥Seeing their Pritam, they become utterly captivated, and their hearts fill with joy. Within themselves they grow restless and overwhelmed, and their reserve slips away. ॥३॥कोऊ देखत गहत कोऊ हसत छाँडत गेह ।करत भायौ अपने मनकौ प्रगट करि निज नेह ॥४॥One gazes at Him, another takes hold of Him; another, laughing, leaves her home. Each acts according to the feeling in her heart, openly revealing her own affection. ॥४॥अति अलौकिक बाल लीला क्यों हूँ जानी न जाई ।मुग्धतासौं महारस सुख देत रसिक मिलाई ॥५॥This most extraordinary childhood Leela cannot be understood by any means. Through its innocent enchantment, it bestows the joy of the highest rasa, bringing the rasikas together. ॥५॥
