MEANING
शोभित श्याम तन पीत झगुलिया । कुल ही लाल लटकन छबि बघना चलन सिखावत मैया ॥१॥Shyam’s body is beautifully adorned with a yellow little garment. A red tassel hangs from it, enhancing His beauty, while Mother teaches Him to walk. ॥१॥डगमगात पग धरत मनोहर अति राजत पेंजनिया । जसुमति मन प्रफुलित मन आनंद पुनिपुनि लेत बलैया ॥२॥The beautiful one places His unsteady little feet, and the anklets shine upon them. Yashoda’s heart blossoms with joy and delight; again and again she takes His balaiyā̃. ॥२॥किलकि किलकि कर लेत खिलौना प्रेम मगन हुलसैया । अरबराय देखत फिर पाछें घुटुरुवन चलत हैं धैया ॥३॥With delighted cries, He takes up His toy, rejoicing and absorbed in love. Looking about restlessly, He turns back and hastens along on His knees. ॥३॥गोपबधू मुख कमल निहारत ललनसबहिं सुख दैया । ब्रजलीला ब्रह्मादिक दुर्लभ गावत दास सदैया ॥४॥Gazing upon the lotus-like faces of the cowherd women, He gives joy to all the young women. The Das forever sings of the pastimes of Vraj, which are difficult even for Brahma and the others to attain. ॥४॥
