MEANING
व्रज में घरघर बजत बधाई ॥नंदमहरके पुत्र भयो री जाकौ नाम कन्हाई ॥१॥In Vraj, congratulations are sounding in every house.A son has been born to Nanda Mahar, whose name is Kanhai. ॥1॥ज्ञातिकर्म करि रीति जुगतिसों नालकपीड़ बनाई॥अधिक दान दियो विप्रनकौ अनधन द्रव्य अघाई ॥२॥The birth rite was performed according to proper custom and method, and the navel-cord rite was done.He gave great charity to the Brahmins, satisfying them with food, wealth, and goods. ॥2॥बहनि सुवासिन याचन आई देहों वीर बधाई ॥तेरे घर अवतार लियो है आपुन त्रिभुवनराई ॥३॥Sisters and married women came asking: “Give us, O brother, congratulatory gifts.In your house He Himself, the Lord of the three worlds, has taken incarnation.” ॥3॥एकनकौ सारी पहरावत एकनकौ पटचीर ॥एकनकौ गढ़ दान देत है विप्रन कंचन हीर ॥४॥To some he gives saris to wear; to some, fine cloth.To some he gives fort in daan; to the Brahmins, gold and diamonds. ॥4॥याचक जन मिलि याचन आये गावत नंददुवार ॥एतौ धन देओ तुम हमकों जो नीको होय हमार ॥५॥The supplicants gathered and came asking, singing at Nanda's doorway:“Give us so much wealth as may be good for us.” ॥5॥हरख्यौ गोकुल गाम सब हरखे हरखे सुरनर नारी ॥माधोदास भक्त सब हरखे हरखी जसुमति महतारी ॥६॥All Gokul village rejoiced; gods, men, and women rejoiced and rejoiced.Madhodas says: all devotees rejoiced, and Yashoda mother rejoiced. ॥6॥
